Flexibility Basics: Gentle Stretches for Every Body Type

Flexibility Basics: Gentle Stretches for Every Body Type

Flexibility is not about touching your toes—it is about moving freely and without pain. Gentle yoga stretches help every body type open tight hamstrings, hips, and shoulders safely, regardless of age, fitness level, or prior experience.

My Yogi guides you through approachable flexibility routines that prioritize alignment and breath over forcing depth. Props like blocks and straps make poses accessible, so you progress at a pace that respects your body's current range of motion.

Why Yoga?

Yoga stretches muscles actively and passively, warming tissues through movement before holding poses that lengthen them. Unlike bouncing or aggressive static stretching, yoga encourages you to breathe into sensation, release gradually, and avoid the injury risk that comes from pushing too hard too fast.

The Benefits of Regular Practice

Consistent gentle stretching improves mobility, reduces stiffness, and supports better posture. Targeting common tight areas—the hamstrings, hip flexors, and chest—can ease discomfort from sitting and make everyday movement feel smoother.

Practice three to five times per week for ten to twenty minutes, using props whenever a pose feels out of reach. Celebrate small gains in range of motion, and remember that flexibility grows over weeks and months—not overnight.
